Jolly lands in hospital after suicide bid
Kozhikode: Jolly Joseph, the accused in Koodathayi multiple murder case, attempted suicide inside Kozhikode district prison on Thursday morning. The woman is undergoing treatment at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital.
According to police, the prison authorities noticed the incident around 5am when Jolly attempted suicide by making a wound on her wrist.
Other prison inmates reported the incident to the jail authorities.

Probe is on regarding the object she used to attempt suicide. The use of a sharp metallic object or broken glass piece is suspected.
According to medical college hospital authorities, Jolly was taken to KMCH around 5.30am with a bleeding hand. She had made a cut on her left wrist with some sharp object. The injury was not serious and a minor surgery was performed for treatment.
According to sources, the wound was caused using some sharp weapon. However, prison authorities claimed that they could not recover any blade, knife or other sharp instruments from the prison cell. They also raised suspicion that Jolly might have caused the wound using her teeth.
Following the incident, police conducted a search inside the prison cell. Security has also been stepped up at the hospital.
Deputy inspector general of prisons M K Vinod Kumar visited the jail and conducted a preliminary investigation into the incident.
Jolly had shown suicidal tendencies during her police custody period too. The police team had recorded Jolly’s arrest a day before the proposed date as they suspected that she would attempt suicide.
Jolly is accused of murdering her ex-husband, parents-in laws and three others including a two-year-old child.
