‘CPM trying to replicate Nadapuram model in state’
KOZHIKODE: Reflecting the growing uneasiness in Muslim community over the perceived ‘anti-Muslim’ stand of CPM, Samastha Kerala Sunni Students Federation (SKSSF) alleged that the party is trying to replicate the ‘Nadapuram Model’ throughout the state.
In a Facebook post, SKSSF state general secretary Sathar Panthaloor said Nadapuram is an area where Sangh Parivar lacks significance. “Nadapuram is a place where a unique experiment is taking place in Kerala politics. BJP doesn’t have a role there or the CPM has undertaken the mission of BJP, rendering the latter irrelevant,” he said.
Sathar said there is enough room to suspect that CPM, under the party secretary, is trying to replicate the Nadapuram experiment in other parts of the state. “Is this CPM’s fight against fascism?” he asked.
What infuriated Muslim organizations is the continuous statement of CPM’s acting state secretary A Vijayaraghavan, which they say smacks of ‘Islamophobia.’ “A
The feeling among Muslim organizations is that CPM is trying to appease the majority community to return to power. Many see the strident anti-Jamaat position only as a tool to mount an attack on the community as a whole. Sathar said that viewing UDF leaders’ visit to Panakkad house from a communal angle suggests that there is a problem of perspective.
Sathar said that the political line of Left parties was not to follow BJP’s path to defeat Sangh Parivar. Indirectly hinting at Congress, he reminded CPM of the fate of a mainstream political party that resorted to soft-Hindutva line to counter the BJP.
It may be recalled that SKSSF was among the first to oppose UDF’s decision to have an alliance with Jamaat during local body polls. The organization had vociferously opposed IUML’s move to align with
Even organizations that are known for their anti-Jamaat stand have started suspecting CPM’s intention behind attacking ‘Islamic extremism’ and SKSSF leaders had asked the government to bring out a white paper on funds allocated to minorities for scholarships in education.
It was believed that such a move will expose the hollowness of the allegations that Muslims get more funds. But to their dismay, government did not consider their demand even as CPM leaders continued their ‘anti-Muslim’ remarks.
