Earlier, the state administration had advised the governor not to visit Durgapur, as it would be difficult to provide security for him. The police were deployed in the tension prone zones of Asansol.
Governor's press secretary, Manab Bandopadhyay said that he will leave at around 8 am for Asansol. At the Asansol Circuit House he will hold a meeting with the district officials and from there he will visit some disturbed areas. On his way back to the city he will also visit Ranigunj to get himself acquainted with the ground reality.
On Saturday, a fact-finding team of BJP is also visiting Asansol which will include MPs Rupa Ganguly, Om Prakash Mathur, Vishnu Dayal Ram and Shahnawaz Hussain. Ram is a former IPS officer who retired as DGP of Jharkhand and is well aware of Asansol.
