West Bengal: Engineering student killed by friend in Birbhum

BIRBHUM: An engineering student, Syed Salauddin Sheikh, was abducted and killed at Ilambazar in Birbhum district apparently by his childhood friend Salman Sheikh. The villagers caught the killer and handed him over to police.
Birbhum district police superintendent Nagendranath Tripathi said, "Salman had confessed to the murder. On Saturday, they both had consumed alcohol.After Salauddin lost his sense, Salman slit his throat. Earlier, Salman sought a loan of Rs 2 lakh from Salauddin. We are checking out whether any other person was involved in the murder." Salauddin's body was recovered from a roadside ditch at Dhalla village in Chowpahari jungle.
On Saturday, around midnight, Salauddin's father Syed Abdul Matin received a call from Salman, who demanded Rs 30 lakh as a ransom.
