TMC’s new digital face Sourav Chunder vows to protect Bengali identity

Kolkata: Social media influencer and advocate Sourav Chunder joined the Trinamool on Thursday asserting that he will fight against Bengali identity being criminalised across India.State finance minister Chandrima Bhattacharya speaking to reporters after Chunder's induction said, "The Chunder family represents North Kolkata's intellectual and commercial heritage at its finest. Ancestor Baboo Subol Chand Chunder was a textile baron and Bengal renaissance philanthropist who embodied the era's spirit of combining wealth creation with cultural advancement. Mother's lineage traces directly to Raja Rajendra Mullick of Marble Palace, representing Bengal's artistic and philanthropic aristocracy that patronized arts, supported social reform, and preserved cultural heritage. This is how he received his learnings and later he involved himself in helping the society through his profession as an advocate."
"In social media too, he is a big influencer. This young audience now becomes AITC's digital army in the social media battle ahead. Youth engagement gets enhanced with intellectual credibility when constitutional lawyers explain agency misuse with case law citations," Bhattacharya added."There is a constant negative narrative against Bengal, trying to prove that Bengal neither had a past, nor has a present, nor will it have a future. Bengali identity is being criminalised across India. Thus, I felt it was important to stand against such a narrative and to show that not everything is wrong with Bengal and that there are many good things happening here," Chunder said.
