KOLKATA: The Calcutta high court on Monday asked the state government to file an affidavit stating why the investigation into the murder of three persons in Birbhum's Labhpur on June 3, 2010, was yet to conclude.
The affidavit will be filed by May 2 and the case will be heard in June.
Sanwar Sheikh, brother of one of the victims, moved a writ petition alleging that till 2010, no chargesheet was filed by the state police.

He also alleged that even now the investigation was yet to be over.
On Monday, the case came up for hearing before Justice Dipankar Datta. State lawyer Negiv Ahmed produced the case diary to the court.
Justice Datta after going through the case diary observed that in the 164 statement shown by the petition, some persons were found responsible for the murder. One of them was Monirul Islam, a Trinamool Congress MLA of the area.
Subrata Mukherjee, counsel for the petitioner, argued why even after a long time, no chargesheet has been filed and why the investigation was still taking time.
Meanwhile, state lawyer said that all 34 persons named in the first information report (FIR) were arrested but were later granted bail.
The court after hearing the arguments of all the parties passed the order directing the state to file an affidavit stating the reason for delay.
