KOLKATA: A partially cloudy morning on Wednesday raised hopes of relief but the clouds soon disappeared paving way for a hot and humid afternoon. Despite the presence of two low-pressure troughs, Kolkata and south Bengal will remain dry in the next 48 hours, predicted the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC). The mercury may drop a shade or two, though, under the influence of the troughs.

City recorded a maximum temperature of 32.9 degree Celsius on Wednesday. RMC director, G K Das, said, “Days will remain partially cloudy. But chances of thundershowers are remote. The conditions are not conducive for a squall.
