calcutta: india's relations with south africa would remain unaffected despite the betting scandal involving sacked skipper hansie cronje rocking the cricketing world, minister of state for external affairs ajit panja said here today. "we love the south african cricketers. there may be one or two incidents, but however serious they may be, the relations between the two countries will not be affected," panja said.
he said delhi police had followed all necessary procedures before tapping the phones of the south african cricketers and going public with the findings. "they had informed the home ministry and other authorities at the right time," he said. asked whether india would accept the findings of the judical probe being planned in south africa on the issue, panja said the south african judicial commission's recommendations were not binding unlike a police inquiry.
