Kolkata: The 21-year-old gang-rape survivor was tormented for several hours in a premium Rajarhat resort, an investigation by cops has revealed on Monday. A forensic team went to the two-storey bungalow with a roof-top swimming pool to collect evidence on Monday morning. According to investigations, the gang rape was pre-planned.
According to the police, the incident took place in a first-floor room and its bathroom. The victim had also testified about it. The four accused who have been arrested — Yogesh Mishra, Rishik Kumar, Madhab Agarwal and Sugam Pariwal — had reportedly told investigators that they were present on the first floor when the incident took place.
On Monday, the four were brought to the Bidhannagar police detective department offices from Rajarhat police station for questioning. Senior detective department officers questioned them first in Rajarhat police station and later in the DD’s offices.
“Prima facie it is found that barring the four arrested, none else had a direct role in the gang rape,” said an officer.
The four planned to abuse the survivor physically when she was in the roof-top swimming pool. It was then that she had some alcohol, along with the rest. Taking advantage of her condition and the fact that she was alone on the first floor, the four raped her. Cops seized alcohol near the swimming pool.
Till now, cops have found nothing substantial linking eight others — five women and three men — to the crime.
After several rounds of questioning, these eight people were allowed to go home but they are likely to be summoned for questioning again. Cops have also started questioning several officials of the Rajarhat resort where Mishra and his friends had checked in for the birthday party. This also included the resort security-in-charge. Several people involved in the housekeeping services and serving food were also summoned for questioning. They were asked if they had seen or heard anything unusual after the party got over on November 10.
“The survivor has specifically named four persons who raped her. She did not name the others, nor did her complaint mention anything about them,” an officer said. The victim had also given a statement to police and also to a judicial magistrate. She has also undergone a medico-legal test. Cops have also launched a parallel probe in the drug abuse allegations.
