Kolkata: A pre-paid taxi booth was inaugurated near

on Friday afternoon. This is the first taxi booth in the northern suburbs. Initially, there will be 100 taxis in the booth, which will operate for 24 hours. Cops said that the number of taxis would be increased as per demand.

was the chief guest at the event where joint police commissioner Dhrubajyoti De, DCP South Zone Ajay Prasad, DCP traffic Sandeep Karra and ACP Traffic Priyobrata Bakshi were also present. Some locals said cabs had been refusing passengers, especially devotees, and demanding exorbitant fares from them in the past.

said that the taxis at the booth will take fare in compliance with the government guideline.
