Cops were yet to ascertain whether Haldar had met with an accident while trying to escape from the hospital or died by suicide.
“It seemed that the man was desperately trying to come down and escape from the hospital. On being alerted by the hospital authorities, two fire tenders arrived at the spot. The firemen rescued the patient and got him admitted at the hospital. He died later during the day. We do not know the exact reason behind his death. We are waiting for the post-mortem report for this,” said an officer.
Sources said that though he was recovered from the cornice, he had suffered a fall by the time he was spotted, having hit his head in the AC machine gap. That injury seemed to have ended his life,” said the officer.
