Only LED monopoles for ads

Kolkata: The Kolkata Municipal Corporation is set to introduce a new advertising policy, according to which the civic body will not allow the old gigantic iron structures. Instead, only LED monopoles will be accepted.In addition, in a bid to discourage the installation of illegal billboards, the KMC advertisement department will change its tender process. The entire stretch of a major road will be given to a particular advertising agency, making it easier for the civic inspectors to spot an illegal billboard, said Mayor Firhad Hakim on Friday. A draft advertisement policy that was sent to the state govt for approval has been sent back with a nod.—Saikat Ray
