No abetment evidence: Todi counsel
KOLKATA: The CBI has no evidence on which charges for abetting Rizwanur Rahman’s suicide can be framed against Pradip Todi, uncle of Rizwanur’s widow Priyanka Todi. This was submitted in the 9th Fast Track court of City Civil Court, Kolkata, on Friday by Pradip’s counsel Sanatan Mukherjee.
The counsel argued that Priyanka’s family had to remember that Khadim owner Partha Roy Burman was kidnapped from the Tiljala area where Rizwanur lived.

So, any attempt to rescue Priyanka from this slum area does not come within the purview of illegality , the counsel argued.
He further argued that even today, India has separate hotels for Hindus and Muslims. These are even marked “Hindu Hotel” and “Muslim Hotel” , the counsel argued.
The Todis had the right to know how Priyanka, who had grown up in a rich family, was spending her day in the slum area and they tried to help her, the counsel said. The judge will hear the submission of Asoke Todi on April 4.
