Navy organises painting competition for children as part of Navy Day celebrations
As a part of Navy Day celebration, a painting competition for school children was held at INS Netaji Subhash in Kolkata on Wednesday.
KOLKATA: As a part of Navy Day celebration, a painting competition for school children was held at INS Netaji Subhash in Kolkata on Wednesday. As many as 91 children from 15 schools participated in three different categories in the competition. The theme for Category A (Classes II & III) students was ‘Kolkata’, Category B (Classes IV & V) students had ‘My Favourite Sport’ and Category C (class VI and VII) had the theme ‘Indian Navy’.

The colorful event witnessed highly creative skills on display by the children. Bandana De, president, NWWA, awarded the prizes to winners under each category.
During the occasion, Commodore Suprobho K De, Naval Officer-in-Charge, West Bengal, addressed the parents and children. He thanked all parents, teachers and children for their enthusiasm and brought out that the painting competition will be an annual event. He encouraged participation with a view to provide a forum for the young minds to gain exposure to the Indian Navy. The Indian Navy Celebrates Navy Day on December 4 every year. The celebrations consist of interaction with children from schools/colleges, medical camps and band concerts. Naval ships also visit Kolkata and children are taken on board.
