Music, magic, food liven up Times Evening

KOLKATA: It was raining fun in Udayan, the housing complex on 1050/1 Survey Park, on Sunday evening. Celebrating Times Evening, an event organized by the Times of India, the venue was full of music, magic shows, sit-and-draw competition and yes, oodles of prizes! Also, the event had an added dimension in the form of a cooking competition. The Times Group will organize such events at premium housing complexes in the city.Udayan was the first stoppage for such a fiesta.
Twenty competitors stirred up a storm with their innovative mouth-watering recipes in the cooking competition. The participants gave a tough time to the judges in deciding the winners. After going through finer details of the recipes and tasting the preparations, actor Kanchana Moitra and chef Sujit Sinha of Tangerine finally zeroed in on four winners. The prizes were sponsored by IFB Industries and Sun-Kwik.
And do not dismiss the men in the complex to be good-for-nothing in the kitchen. Few men turned up with their lip-smacking dishes. In fact, the first prize went to Sumit Sarkar, who received an IFB 20 litre convection microwave oven sponsored by IFB Industries along with a Sun-Kwik pressure cooker. The second, third and the special prize winners were given a Sun-Kwik pressure cooker each.
The venue for the sit-and-draw competition had the tiny hands running riot with colours on their canvass. The magic show kept the young and old alike glued to their seats. And yes, Rollick saw to it that the audience had rollicking time by treating everyone present with ice cream. There was also cooking lessons-cum-demo by representatives from IFB Industries. Homemakers lined up for the session, noting down the recipes.
The celebration with ToI ended with a musical programme where the band members belted out popular foot tapping numbers.
