KOLKATA: As the year draws to a close, people from the northeast living in the city, especially Mizos, are ready with their own celebrations to bid farewell to 2015. While the entire city is decked up to ring in the new year, the Mizo community of the City of Joy have organized their own social and cultural events to mark the occasion.
A New Year's Eve service will be held at Mizoram House here on December 31.

"We take part in religious and cultural events," said Laima Chozah, a senior IAS officer. The service will comprise prayer offerings and Bible sessions. A similar service will be held on New Year's Day. "This celebration will be attended by all members of the Mizo church and some locals," added Chozah. The Young Christian Association, comprising mostly young professionals, will also be part of the celebrations. Suvro Banerjee
On the other hand, Kolkata Mizo Students' (KMS) association will have their own celebrations. "Apart from church services and prayers, we have organised a dinner for everyone. This will be followed by dancing," said KMS culture secretary Lalrinsanga.
