Kolkata: The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of the detective department on Tuesday rescued a minor and arrested two persons from a Kasba guesthouse for trafficking minors and pushing them into the flesh trade. The sex racket was being run from Rajdanga Main Road.
The accused, Jayanta Sen (46), a trafficker-cum-brothel manager and a resident of East Burdwan, was arrested along with Sagarika Das alias Mampi Das (33), the brothel manager hailing from Anandapur, after a raid around 5.20 pm on Tuesday.
"The accused have been booked under BNS sections 61 (2), 96, 98, 99, 143, and 144, along with sections 4 and 17 of the Pocso Act and sections 3, 4, 5, and 6 of the Immoral Trafficking Act. All the accused, two of them still on the run, sexually exploited the minor whom we rescued. One hotel register along with cash has been seized from the spot," said Joint CP (Crime & Traffic) Rupesh Kumar.
Eight months ago, three persons were arrested for allegedly sexually exploiting minor girls and running a sex racket from a hotel at Laskarhat in Kasba. "We acted on information about the sexual exploitation of minor girls at a hotel in Kasba. The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit had conducted the raid at the hotel. During the raid, two minor girls, aged about 16-17 years and both hailing from Garden Reach, were rescued from the hotel's room. Both the girls were trafficked for commercial sexual exploitation. During the search, the police team also seized money, condoms and alcohol bottles from the spot.
In this case, the accused were produced before the Pocso Court Alipore, where the cops sought police custody.
