‘May our relations be cordial’: CM congratulates BNP chief on win
Kolkata: CM Mamata Banerjee congratulated BNP chief Tarique Rehman on Friday after the party's victory in the Bangladesh election. "Wish that our relations with Bangladesh be always cordial," Banerjee posted on X. The CM's post followed that of PM Narendra Modi who was the first among world leaders to congratulate Rehman on his win.Banerjee's post read: "My hearty congratulations, shubhonandan, to all my brothers and sisters, all the people, in Bangladesh. Advance Ramazan Mubarak to all of them. For this great victory, my congratulations to my Tarique-Bhai, his party, and all the parties. Pray, you all be well and happy."

Trinamool, however, chose to not comment on Bangladesh polls. "Our leadership is seized of this issue. The party has no political statement to make. Bangladesh is a different country. But for a lot of people in Bengal, because of our common ancestry and shared roots, we will always want they live in peace and happiness," party spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said.
