Kolkata: Mohammedan Sporting kept their perfect run going in the I-League, overcoming early jitters to brush aside Sreenidi Deccan FC 3-1 at the Naihati Stadium on Monday.
Marcus Joseph once again emerged the architect of the victory, scoring a brace in the 40th and 51st minutes and handing Andrey Chernyshov’s team, who fell behind to David Nunoz’s 16th-minute goal, the third win on the trot in the tournament.
Andelo Rudovic converted a penalty in the 89th minute to cap Mohammedan Sporting’s comeback. Marcus scored in all three game so far, taking his tally to five goals.
In other matches in Kalyani, defending champions Gokulam Kerala rode goals from Luka Majcen (4th, 38th), Jourdaine Fletcher (5th, 27th) and Jithin (66th) to demolish 10-man Real Kashmir FC 5-1 while Neroca FC beat TRAU 2-0.
Real Kashmir, who had to play almost the entire match with a man down after Prakash Sarkar was given a straight red card in the fourth minute, resulting a penalty, got their lone goal through Tiago Adan (48th).
