Man duped of 1.2L in loan call scam
Kolkata: A resident of Polenite Mission Para in the Bidhannagar PS area claimed to have been duped of Rs 1.2 lakh after receiving a call from a person, posing as a representative of a finance company, a day after he had availed of a personal loan.The complainant said he had avail of a loan of Rs 1.3 lakh from a finance company on Feb 10 and the call came on Feb 11. According to the complaint lodged at the Cyber Crime Police Station in Bidhannagar, the caller, posing as an official of the finance company, claimed certain formalities were left and sent him a link, clicking on which he had to complete the process. Moments after the complainant clicked on the link, his phone became unresponsive, said police, adding that once he managed to restart the device 10 minutes later, he found Rs 1.2 lakh had been debited from his account in three UPI transactions.
