Kolkata: Suspended Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Nupur Sharma — whose objectionable remarks on Prophet Muhammad led Kolkata Police to register multiple FIRs against her — has been summoned again by the city cops. The fresh summons issued by Amherst Street police asked her to join investigations on June 25.
The Kolkata Police on Thursday stated that total 10 FIRs have been registered against Sharma in the city in June.
Some other FIRs were registered in different other parts of the state.
“Earlier, on Monday morning, we received an email from her. She sought four weeks’ time to appear before us to record her statement. She informed us that she was facing threats from various quarters, so she would not take the risk of travelling to Kolkata at this moment,” DC (Eastern Suburban Division) Priyabrata Roy had told TOI.
