Kolkata Metro’s passenger count and earnings has increased during the first eight-and-half months of the current financial year (2019-20) in comparison to the same period of the previous fiscal.
During the same period of the current financial year, Metro’s earnings increased to Rs.14908.92 lakh from Rs.14559.64 lakh earned in the same period of the previous fiscal.
In the first eight-and-half months of this financial year (from April 1, to December 15, 2019), Metro Railway carried 1531.88 lakh passengers in comparison to 1521.43 lakh passengers the previous term.
There has been a sharp dip in nuisance cases in metro railway as well. During the period from April 1 to December 15, as many as 2224 nuisance cases were detected and Rs. 5,93,725 were realised as fine from the offenders.
It is to be mentioned that during the corresponding period of the previous financial year (2018-19), as many as 3,277 nuisance cases were detected and Rs.8,52,280 were realised as fine from the offenders.
The significant decrease of nuisance cases has been possible due to the massive awareness campaigns through Public Address System, both at stations and in trains, short video films showing through platform TVs, strict vigilance of the station staff and co-operation from the commuters.
