KOLKATA: A college student in her early twenties was rescued by cops from a guest house off EM Bypass on Thursday night. The woman had allegedly called her mother claiming she was held captive by a classmate in a room. Her mother then dialled 100 and a team of officers tracked the woman from her cellphone tower location and rescued her.
The victim, a resident of the northern fringes of Kolkata, wrote in her complaint that she and her friend, a resident of Howrah, met at Sealdah station on Thursday around 5.30pm and booked an app can to reach the guest house.

After they checked in, the youth, a final year BSC student from the same college as the woman, allegedly tried to force himself upon her.
She panicked and called her mother.
“We received a call on our emergency number at 9.45pm from the residence of the victim. Her mother informed us about their possible whereabouts, but could not give us the exact location. We finally found them and broke into the room where we found the woman,” said a senior cop.
