Prabir Bhattacharya (38), a journalist working with a vernacular magazine, died following a cardiac arrest at a nursing home on Monday night. He was hospitalized on Saturday after he took ill.

Prabir Bhattacharya (38), a journalist working with a vernacular magazine, died following a cardiac arrest at a nursing home on Monday night. He was hospitalized on Saturday after he took ill. He was also associated with All India Radio. Chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, finance minister Asim Dasgupta and fire services minister Pratim Chatterjee placed wreaths on his body at Writers' Buildings on Tuesday.

Ramesh Mirdha (30), a resident of Jamespur, Gosaba, in South 24-Parganas, had gone to Dobanki for fishing. His associates chased the tiger away but Ramesh was dead by then.
Murder accused held: Pintu Chaurashia (25), a key accused in the murder of Mukesh Jaiswal, the owner of a Salt Lake discotheque and an eatery at City Centre, was arrested at Niamatpur in Burdwan on Tuesday.
Jaiswal was murdered in March 2009. Pintu will be produced in Barasat court on Wednesday.
