JoSAA, CSAB 2026 counselling likely to begin from June 2 over 48,000 seats on offer
KOLKATA: The Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) 2026, under the coordination of the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpur, is expected to begin the counselling process for seat allocation to undergraduate engineering and architecture programmes from June 2. The process will cover National Institutes of Technology (NITs), IIEST Shibpur, Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and Government Funded Technical Institutions (GFTIs) through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2026 and CSAB 2026 rounds.
A press release stated, “A meeting of the core committee of CSAB/DASA 2026, comprising IIEST Shibpur director VMSR Murthy as chairman, professor Pratik Dutta as member secretary, directors of several NITs, IIITs, SPA, GFTIs, and representatives of the Ministry of Education, was held on Friday to discuss the seat allotment process through JoSAA 2026 under the NIT+ system.”
This year, 114 institutes are participating in the JoSAA and CSAB 2026 counselling process, and around 48,000 seats will be offered through it. In addition, counselling will be conducted for Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) candidates for undergraduate and postgraduate courses. A special counselling round will also be held for students from the North Eastern states and Union Territories.
The JoSAA 2026 and CSAB 2026 counselling rounds will be conducted entirely online, including registration, choice filling, seat allotment, and document verification. However, physical reporting at the finally allotted institute will be mandatory for admission. Seat allocation will be based on JEE (Main) 2026 ranks and fulfilment of the eligibility requirements mentioned in JEE (Main).
