Jadavpur University student death: Student bodies stage protest

KOLKATA : Students of different organisations staged protests at Aurobindo Bhaban demanding justice for the first-year student of Jadavpur University who died after alleged ragging.
Jadavpur University Teachers Association (JUTA) took out a march to Jadavpur police station demanding not to harrass first year students.
Over 50 residents of Bagula in Nadia came to university campus and took out a protest march.
The also submitted a memorandum to the university administration demanding proper action against the guilty and allot a seperate hostel on him name.
Utpal Biswas said, "I personally spoke to the pro-vice chancellor and asked to him take proper action and there should be a proper arrangement so that in future such incidents should not take place."
Additional SP Shanti Das Basak and six members of the probe panel came to campus to investigate the matter and spoke to university registrar and joint registrar.
State human right's commission member additional SP Shanti Das Basak said, "We will visit the place where the incident took place and speak to the first-year students, passouts and others linked with the incident."
