Four killed, two injured in NH-6 accident in Howrah

Four persons died while two suffered serious injuries in an accident on NH-6 in Howrah's Uluberia on Sunday afternoon.

HOWRAH: Four persons died while two suffered serious injuries in an accident on NH-6 in Howrah's Uluberia on Sunday afternoon. Locals said that the car, in which the six were travelling, was running on break-neck speed. Its driver lost control and crashed the car onto the median divider of the highway.
Police suspect that they youths were drunk.
The deceased have been identified as Sadanand Jha, Dinesh Mitra, Munna Pandey and Goutam Chowrasia.

They were declared brought dead in a local hospital. The two injured who are battling for their lives at Uluberia Hospital are Chandan Mukherjee and Ajoy Roy. All of them are from Chatterjee Para in Howrah.
All the accident victims are aged between 25 and 35. Five of them were into transport operation while Mukherjee was a police personnel.
The six left their homes together saying that they were going to buy hilsa from Kolaghat. They were to have a dinner party back home in Howrah on Sunday night. The six were on way back home when the mishap occurred around 3.45 pm. Eye witnesses said that the car was travelling at a dangerous speed. The driver lost control and hit the median divider. The impact was so great that the car got flung across the opposite lane before crashing onto the wall of a factory by the highway.
