‘He threatened to kill me’: Staffer alleges rape by manager at West Bengal hospital

PANSKURA: A female contractual worker at Panskura Super Specialty Hospital in East Midnapore was raped by a facility manager employed by a private company, police said on Monday.

She alleged, "He was constantly pressuring me for a physical relationship and threatened to kill me if I told anyone. I informed the higher-ups in my organisation about this. Yesterday, the facility manager asked me to bring some things. When I went to the room, he pounced on me and physically assaulted me. Later, I informed the hospital superintendent about this."

According to sources, the survivor worked at the hospital through a private organisation for several years.

Locals erupted in protest in the hospital premises after the news of the incident came to light.

A senior police officer said, "Investigation has started and the survivor's statement has been recorded. Her medico-legal examination is also being conducted."
