City-based team in knockout stage
Kolkata: City-based R1S5 finished on top after eight rounds of the league stage in the ongoing All India Bridge Championship (category one) at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre in New Town on Friday. In all, 16 teams advanced to the knockout stage. R1S5 , represented by Ritabrata Dutta, Sumit Bhowmik , Sanjib Basak, Suman Banerjee, Subhasree Basu and Soham Sarkar, were fifth on Thursday. However, a much-improved performance saw them rise to the top with 111.27 VPs. Thay will take on Jhantu in the quarterfinals. Other teams to advance were Magnum, Formidables, Dhampur Sugar, Mavericks, OCI Copper, Erni’S, Shree Cement, Arun Jain, Maya Meera Sneha, Bappa, Sarbeshwar, Hemant Jalan, Pradeep and AkankshaLast year’s champions Fenesta and India Women, who were the team champions in the BFAME Champiosnhip in Lahore, failed to make the cut.
