Kolkata: A team of CID’s economic offence wing went to Kalyani on Friday to question Anasuya Dhar, daughter-in-law of BJP MLA Bankim Ghosh, days after the investigating agency summoned Anasuya and Maitreyee Ghosh, daughter of BJP leader Niladri Sekhar Dana, for allegedly securing contract jobs at AIIMS.
Anasuya did not appear before the team citing preoccupation. The team met a key witness at Haringhata to record statement. Bankim Ghosh could not be reached for comments.
Anasuya and Maitreyee were sent notices earlier this week, said CID sources. Anasuya had sought time, but it was not granted to her, they said.
Another EOW-CID team is likely to travel to Bankura next Monday to question Maitreyee. However, it is not known if she would appear before the team.
“We will ascertain why those served notices did not join the investigations. If required, a fresh notice will be issued,” said a source in the EOW unit.
The CID initiated investigation in June, days after an FIR was registered against Subhas Sarkar, Union minister of state for education, Jagannath Sarkar, BJP’s Ranaghat MP and Bankura MLA Niladri Sekhar Dana alleging recruitment irregularities at AIIMS, Kalyani.
The FIR named eight persons, officials said. The complainant alleged that Dana’s daughter was given the job of data entry operator on contract with an organisation working for the AIIMS at a monthly salary of Rs 30,000.
