ASANSOL: CID officials Ardhendu Sekhar Pahari and Debjit Das submitted the chargesheet against former Katwa OC Debjyoti Saha at the court of ACJM Durga Khaitan on Tuesday.
Saha has been charged under sections 302,120B and 34 of the Indian Penal Code for allegedly killing Congress leader and lecturer Tuhin Samanta with his service revolver at Chanduli High School elections in Katwa on February 25, 2007.
Saha had been arrested by CID and later, released in bail after serving in jail custody for 91 days. The case will now be transferred automatically to the sessions court.
Meanwhile, Samanta's widow has alleged that Saha is using his police connections and threatening the eyewitnesses in the murder case.
