NCC cadets

of West Bengal and Sikkim for their outstanding performance in the training year 2016 - 2017 at a glittering ceremony held at Raj Bhavan, Kolkata on Feb 8, 2017.

Cadets of Army, Navy and Air Force NCC units who had excelled in various training and related activities were awarded the prestigious Governor’s Medals. The governor appreciated the contribution of NCC officers and training staff in training and developing the youth of West Bengal and Sikkim.

The awardees included nine best cadets from Army, Navy and Air Force junior and senior divisions of NCC and shooters who had excelled in Advance Rifle Shooting in Thal Sanik Camp, W.B. state Shooting Championship and All India G.V. Mavlankar Shooting Championship.

Girl cadets who won gold medals in volleyball, handball and kho-kho in NCC National Games and eighteen cadets who took part in guard of honour and marched on the Rajpath in the prestigious Republic Day Parade 2017 at New Delhi were honoured. Two girls cadets of NCC Directorate West Bengal and Sikkim who scaled Mt. Everest on May 21 and 22, 2016 were also honoured.

Maj. Gen L.B. Chand, VSM Additional DG, NCC Directorate West Bengal and Sikkim thanked the the governor, chief minister of West Bengal, department of higher education of West Bengal, Army authorities of Eastern Command, Sports Authority of India and other civil agencies who have helped the NCC in performing their day-to-day activities producing overall excellence in all fields.
