Arjun Gourisaria elated by his second National Award win for best editing

Arjun Gourisaria elated by his second National Award win for best editing
Kolkata's very own Arjun Gourisaria is happy that his work was recognised by the 67th National Film Awards, especially because he had a lot of fun editing Shut Up Sona. He won the Best Editing award in Non-Feature Films category for 2019. "I feel elated but I was not glued to the announcement when it happened. Someone tagged me on social media and that's how I came to know about it. I have been receiving a lot of congratulatory messages since then," he said. Arjun, who has won the coveted Best Editing award for the second time, appeared pretty relaxed about his big win. "This is my second National Award for best editing. I had won it before for Gulabi Gang. Each win is special though. It feels great that film editors are recognised too. We work in the dark for long hours and this spotlight is welcome," he said. Editing non-feature films is quite a challenge in itself. When asked what were the things he had to keep in mind for Shut Up Sona, Arjun said, "Every film comes with its share of challenges. In this film, the protagonist itself was the unique point. Her sentences were without full stops. I had to edit scenes keeping the flow and continuity of her dialogues in mind. Besides, it's double the fun when you win an award for something which you enjoyed doing." Arjun has also won other prestigious awards for his directorial feature, Sthaniya Sambaad.
