Three members of an expedition team of Uttar Batra club went missing after being caught in a blizzard while crossing the 18300-feet Parang La Pass.

HOWRAH: Three members of an expedition team of Uttar Batra club went missing on Tuesday morning after being caught in a blizzard while crossing the 18300-feet Parang La Pass. They are Bhaskar Banerjee (53) of Salt Lake and Amal Dhara (37) and Biswanath Ghosh (37), both from Howrah.
The eight-member team left on September 26 and was on its way to Sumeri Lake, at 19,000 feet.

Five climbers were injured in the blizzard but rescued by Indo-Tibetan Border Police and brought to its base camp in Katjo.
On Wednesday, ITBP carried out helicopter sorties to trace the three missing climbers, but the rescue operation was hampered by bad weather.
Banerjee, the team leader, was in the forefront. When the blizzard started, the team members got scattered. Most of the team members are in the age group of 35 to 40 years.
Sukanta Mukherjee, a team member, rang up his residence at Batra, Howrah and informed about the accident. The relatives of the mountaineers have already contacted Howrah MP Swadesh Chakraborty and he has asked the Centre to rescue the team. On Thursday, the relatives of the trekking team will be leaving for Leh. The team was slated to return to Kolkata by end-October.
