10 held for call centre fraud
Kolkata: A group of ten youths– all in their early 20s – hailing from Durg in Chhattisgarh were arrested for operating an illegal call centre from a rented house in Rajarhat. They allegedly duped foreigners and people from across India by posing as representatives from software companies or online gaming applications.“The youths guaranteed extremely high returns on bets,” an officer said. “They took remote access to the victims’ devices and siphoned money from their accounts without their consent,” the officer said. Laptops, cellphones, debit cards and cheque books were seized. TNN
