Kolhapur

: Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut on Wednesday said

Sanjay Pawar

will file his nomination papers for

Rajya Sabha

on Thursday in presence of chief minister Uddhav Thackeray.
He said Sambhajiraje Chhatrapati was asked to join Sena as the two seats belonged to Sena and Thackeray had promised to get him a win. However, Sambhajiraje remained reluctant to join Sena.
On Tuesday, no official statement was made by Sambhajiraje even as all eyes were on him — whether he will contest the RS election as an independent or opt out of the race.
“Minister Anil Parab is assisting Pawar to get the papers right to file the nomination. Pawar is a staunch Shiv Sainik. Several members of the Chhatrapati family have been associated with some or the other party,” said Raut.
Raut will be in Kolhapur on Friday for a two-day tour. He will speak to the party workers on Saturday.
