Protest over disrespectful remarks against icons

On Thursday, hundreds of people from Kolhapur marched from Bindu Chowk towards the Collector's Office demanding legal action be taken against people who are making disrespectful remarks about the icons of Maharashtra- Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Babasaheb Ambedkar, Shahu Maharaj, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, and Savitribai Phule. The activists, teachers, and workers participated in the protest under one banner, appealing to the public to gather at Bindu Chowk on Thursday morning during the march. The protesters raised slogans stating that the icons- Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Babasaheb Ambedkar, Shahu Maharaj, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, and Savitribai Phule- are the pride of Maharashtra. The protesters submitted the demand petition to acting district collector Sanjay Shinde.
