Kolhapur: Hundreds of people from Kolhapur on Thursday marched from Bindu Chowk towards the collector’s office, demanding legal action against people making disrespectful remarks against the icons of Maharashtra.
The activists, teachers and workers participated in the protest under one banner. An appeal was made through social media, asking people to gather at Bindu Chowk on Thursday morning.
During the march, people raised slogans stating that the icons — Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Babasaheb Ambedkar, Shahu Maharaj, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, Savitribai Phule and Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil — are the pride of Maharashtra. The protesters submitted the demand petition to acting district collector Sanjay Shinde.
