Naik Sawant loses his life in cross fire
Kolhapur: Naik Sandeep Raghunath Sawant lost his life on Wednesday morning while fighting against infiltrators in Naushera sector, Jammu and Kashmir.
Mortal remains of Sandeep Sawant is expected to arrive at Pune airport on Thursday.
The 25-year-old martyr hails from Munde village in Karad taluka of Satara district. He is survived by his father, mother, wife and two-month-old daughter.

Maratha Light Infantry Naik spotted few infiltrators, who were trying to cross the border. Sandeep was accompanied by Arjun Thapa Magar of Gorkha Rifles. Both of them opened fire at the infiltrators. Indian army cordoned the area from where the infiltrators were trying to cross the border. However, Sawant and Thapa were seriously injured in the cross firing and later succumbed to their injuries.
According to the official communication from Defence Ministry, the last rites will take place in Munde village on Thursday.
