Man arrested on charge of wife’s murder

Kolhapur: A 43-year-old man was arrested by the Kolhapur police after his wife — undergoing treatment for physical assault by him — passed away after struggling for life for around 10 days.On Feb 7, Ganesh Shankar Hubale, a resident of the Shaniwar Peth area of Kolhapur city, got his wife, Swati (40), admitted to a private hospital. He fled and continued to tell Swati's relatives that she was missing. Swati, however, passed away on Feb 15. After she passed away, the relatives demanded that Hubale, who runs a shop selling fetas (headgear), be booked for murder. "The post-mortem report revealed that Hubale tried to choke her to death. We have booked him for murder. He was hiding to evade arrest, but eventually we caught him," Shivram Kanherkar, inspector of Laxmipuri police station, said.According to the police, the couple got married in 2012 and have two children — a daughter and a son. According to reports, the couple regularly fought with each other.
