Liquor worth Rs 4.42 lakh seized in the district
KOLHAPUR: Police conducted raids at seven places in the district and seized illegal liquor worth Rs 4.42 lakh on Friday. The seized liquor included indian made foreign liquor (IMFL) and country made liquor.
Police officials stated that the drive will continue to keep a check on production and sale of illegal liquor in the district.
A senior police officer said, “After receiving instructions issued by senior police officials, we have initiated action against the people involved in manufacture of country liquor, operating liquor dens and those involved in selling liquor in the district. We have also initiated action against those who are involved in selling IMFL without valid license.”

Similar raids were conducted at various places in the jurisdictions of Gandhinagar, Shirol, Karveer, Gokul Shirgaon and Wadgaon police station. Liquor was seized from various spots in the respective areas.
The senior officer said, “We have not arrested anyone yet but have registered cases against the suspects. We will take action against them as per law. We will continue raiding illegal liquor dens to ensure manufacture and sale of the liquor is stopped.”
