KMC repairs water supply; citizens face water cuts

Kolhapur: The city had no water supply on Monday owing to KMC reparing the main water supply channel at Shingnapur water pumping station.
A, B, E wards along with the adjoining suburbs encountered water scarcity, while Tuesday will see a low pressure water supply.
The civic body did appeal to citizens on using water sparingly and have deployed water tankers in the city and slum areas.A huge rush of citizens was seen filling their water vessels from the tankers.
Sachin Kamble, a resident of Shahu Nagar, said, “After every one or two weeks, KMC conducts pipeline repairs where we have to face severe water scarcity. Rain intensity is still very low and there is already alternate day water supply ongoing in city.”
He added, “Even if the KMC deploys water tankers, these tankers are available only to the people who have their link with former corporators and normal citizens stay deprived”.
