KOLHAPUR: On the backdrop of recent house break-ins in the city, superintendent of police Sanjay Mohite asked

police officials

to

increase patrolling

in their

respective jurisdictions.

He also warned the policemen that they will be transferred to police headquarters, if they fail to act as per the orders.

Mohite had recently convened a meeting of senior police officers and police inspectors in-charge of stations from city and asked them to take immediate steps to ensure that these incidents are brought in control.

According to police sources, he asked all the police stations to make changes in the detection branch (DB), whose main work is to nab criminals and put an end to illegal activities in the city. He also warned the DB staff that they will be transferred to police headquarters if they do not function efficiently.

Last week, a special team of police officials had raided two massage parlours and busted a sex racket in the city. According to officials, the action was taken by senior police officials based on tips provided by sources and the DB, which deals in such cases, had no clue about this.

Mohite has asked the police officials to increase patrolling in the city during night as well as day time to ensure incidents like house break-ins, chain snatching and theft are brought in control.
