Elderly woman found dead in apartment

Kolhapur: A 69-year-old woman, living alone in an apartment in the Gangavesh area, was found dead on Monday. The deceased, Usha Maruti Bhiungade, lived alone after her husband passed away in Dec. Her nephew occasionally looked after her when she needed help getting medicines and other care. On Monday when Bhiungade did not answer her phone, the nephew came home to found her body in the living room.Inspector of Laxmipuri police station Shivram Kanherkar said, "Doctors confirmed the woman's death was due to multiple organ failure. She had liquid and pus in her lungs. She was undergoing treatment for blood pressure and diabtetes. Her nephew informed us that she recently had undergone bypass surgery. There is no foul play as per the report by the doctors."
