KOHIMA: Expressing concern over the Centre's move to observe Good Governance Day on December 25, Nagaland Congress accused the state's Naga People's Front (NPF) government of remaining silent on the issue to please its 'political masters' in Delhi.
NPF, an NDA ally, is yet to issue a statement on the controversy which is more acute in a Christian-dominated state like Nagaland.

"It is a downright insult for Christians, especially in a state like Nagaland," said a statement issued by the working president of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee, Ayang Aonok.
"The Nagaland government has betrayed the trust of the people by glorifying leaders who have systematically destroyed the secular fabric of the country," the statement said.
The NPF government had 'maintained a studied silence on such a vital issue ostensibly in fear of a reprisal from PM Modi,' it added.
Earlier, the Nagaland Baptist Church Council had said the decision of the Modi government to observe Good Governance Day on Christmas had hurt religious sentiments.
