NPF's plan to stake claim to govt delayed

KOHIMA: NPF's move of defiance, staking claim to form the government on the basis of its numbers in the assembly election, will have to wait.
Taking a cue from Congress and RJD after the developments in Karnataka, NPF had declared it would stake claim to government formation on Monday. However, scheduling conflicts have put its symbolic act of resistance on hold.Former chief minister and leader of opposition TR Zeliang is caught up with campaigning for the byelection to the lone Lok Sabha seat from the state while governor PB Acharya will not be back here until June 6.
Zeliang had tweeted earlier that NPF will hold a meeting on the matter after he returns from Tuensang, where he addressed public meetings to garner support for NPF candidate C Apok Jamir. On Monday, the campaign took him to the remote districts of Kiphire and Phek. Meanwhile, highly placed sources in Raj Bhavan told TOI that it has not received any letter from NPF seeking an appointment with the governor. "The governor will be in Dimapur on Tuesday and Wednesday. He will then head for Mumbai and Delhi and will be back in Kohima only on June," the sources added.
