Assembly sets up panel to examine Nagaland Municipal Bill 2023
Kohima: The state assembly on Thursday formed a seven-member select committee headed by deputy CM T R Zeliang to examine the Nagaland Municipal Bill, 2023.
The house had on Tuesday decided to refer the Bill to the select committee after the members deliberated on the urban local bodies election which has not been held in the state for almost two decades.
The announcement about the formation of the select committee was made by speaker Sharingain Longkumer before declaring the session sine die.

The detailed order on the working of the committee will be notified by the assembly secretariat, but normally any such panel set up to refer to a government bill needs to submit its report within three months, Longkumer said. PTI

Monsoon session of Nagaland assembly begins
The monsoon session of the Nagaland assembly will take place from September 11 to 14. During this session, the government plans to pass resolutions against the implementation of the Forest Conservation (Amendment) Act and Uniform Civil Code (UCC), and table a new Municipal Act. These decisions are based on the special privileges granted to the Nagas under Article 371(A) of the Constitution. The session will also include discussions on matters of urgent public importance and the presentation of committee reports.
