Kochi: India meteorological department (IMD) issued a hot and humid warning for high temperatures in Kerala. A yellow alert of 2-3 Celcius rise above normal has been issued for 12 districts on Thursday.Maximum temperatures are very likely to be around 39C at isolated places in Palakkad, 38C in Kollam, Kottayam and Thrissur, 37C in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Ernakulam and Kannur, and 36C in Thiruvananthapuram, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Kasargod on Thursday.Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty wind speed reaching 40-50kmph are very likely at one or two places over Kerala till Sunday.Maximum temperature rose appreciably in Thrissur and Kottayam. Palakkad recorded the highest maximum temperature of 38.8C.IMD said a trough runs from interior Tamil Nadu to north interior Karnataka. The upper air cyclonic circulation over coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining Telangana has become less marked. An upper air cyclonic circulation lay over southeast Arabian Sea off Kerala coast.The trough discontinuity from upper air cyclonic circulation over east Uttar Pradesh to south Tamil Nadu across east Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Marathwada and interior Karnataka has also become less marked.
