Kottayam: Youth Congress state president O J Janeesh on Saturday said that the protests against health minister Veena George are not on the opposition leader's instructions.
Janeesh said that a wreath was placed in front of the health minister's official residence solely to highlight the collapse of Kerala's healthcare system. It does not mean anyone will be killed, unlike when DYFI members place wreaths, he added.

"Despite being a minister for five years, Veena George failed to improve the system. Each medical error is justified as an isolated incident. In the case where forceps were found in the stomach of Usha Joseph after surgery at Alappuzha Medical College Hospital, the minister tried to evade responsibility," Janeesh said.
The minister's response was that she was not accountable since it happened during the election period, he said, adding that there is also suspicion about whether this is targeted at former health minister K K Shailaja.
Janeesh said that Youth Congress will continue its agitation until George resigns as health minister.
"In the coming days, there will be black flag protests. On Monday, marches will be held at district centres and towards DMO offices. Veena George lacks the mindset to accept criticism. She attained her position not through political work, but through the kitchen cabinet," he added.
