Thrissur: CPI state secretary Binoy Viswam on Friday alleged that BJP was not at all sincere in elevating the status of women in the country and the controversial women's reservation bill was only one of the gimmicks which the saffron party-led govt has been practicing.
Viswam also lashed out at Congress for being guided only by the hunger for power.

"BJP is enacting the most despicable farce by bringing this women's reservation bill. It is only a cheap drama being staged with an intention to corner votes, and it is a total betrayal of women's cause. The hidden objective was to implement delimitation and marginalise south Indian states,'' he said, while responding to questions from the media.
"BJP is being controlled by RSS, which is an organisation that doesn't give membership to women. How can such a political outfit claim that they stand for women's cause?" asked Viswam.
He alleged that intense battles were going on within Congress for the chief minister's post even before the election results were out. "In fact, there is only one post of chief minister in the state, but Congress leaders are vying with each other to divide CM's chair into three. UDF is keen to enjoy power,'' he said.
Viswam said as per reports gathered by the party units and LDF cadres, the front would win with a comfortable majority in the just-concluded assembly polls in the state.
