Women have come forward to highlight exploitation they face: WCC

Kochi: Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) has said that more women have spoken up about the exploitation in the workplace following the release of the Hema Committee report. "Following the release of the Hema committee report, women in the film industry have decided to break the silence. In light of the findings in the report, women have come forward to highlight the exploitation they face in the workplace," the post said.WCC has called for steps to prevent gender disparity in the industry. "Let's rebuild our workplace," WCC said in a Facebook post. It asked the govt and other organisations in the film industry to come together to realise a gender-just workplace in the cinema world."The report categorically states that gender discrimination in any form in a workplace has the same gravity as sexual atrocities. The report recommends a system more stable and transparent to curb the prevalent gender disparity in the film industry," adds the post.
